Silane Coupling Agent Coating for Alumina Modification - Tungkula's Specialty


Alumina, a thermally conductive and insulating material, is commonly used in the field of electronic ceramics, with PCB board substrates being a major application. Here, we introduce a process for modifying alumina used as a thermally conductive silicone grease and silicone gel filler. Tungkula's T-Mix powder surface coating modification equipment excels in the coating modification of alumina.



The main body of the equipment takes the form of a high-speed mixer, where rapidly rotating blades evenly disperse alumina powder within the chamber. Silane coupling agents are then uniformly added to the chamber, ensuring even coating on the alumina surface. This enhances alumina dispersion and reduces its oil absorption.


In some high filler content composite materials, silane coupling agents can enhance thermal transfer between alumina particles, thereby improving the thermal conductivity of the composite material.


Modified alumina, used as a filler in thermally conductive silicone gel for electronic components, can be more uniformly dispersed in silicone gel and other thermally conductive materials, greatly improving the thermal conductivity efficiency of the silicone gel.

Silane coupling agent-coated and modified alumina, as a filling material, not only enhances alumina's filling rate but also enhances the hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance of materials such as plastics and rubber. Silane coupling agents can form a chemical bond structure on the surface of alumina, firmly bonding it to the rubber or plastic matrix, thus improving material mechanical performance and durability.

Furthermore, in areas such as coatings, adhesives, ceramics, and catalysts, modified alumina is used to enhance material corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high-temperature resistance, and mechanical properties.
